About Me
My name is Dawn Olivares, and I am a board certified, licensed Occupational Therapist who earned my degree in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University in 1997. I specialize in pediatrics and sensory-motor applications for functional outcomes. I have experience working in public schools, private home-based therapy, pediatric home healthcare, private clinic-based therapy, and presenting to preschools, school staff, and other therapists. I also work with The Ziggurat Group as part of the Autism Assessment Team and have extensive experience in working with both children and adults with ASD.
My scope of practice includes sensory processing, primitive reflexes, interoception, and Autism/ASD. Additional continuing education and experience includes the following areas: fine motor skills, visual motor skills, feeding and swallowing, Beckman Oral Motor, pre-natal and infant treatment, BPPV, NDT, handwriting, postural support, assistive technology, behavioral intervention, vision, Handwriting Without Tears, How Does your Engine Run?/ The Alert Program, team play assessments, learning disabilities, ADHD, breath support, trach/vent care, auscultation, Brain Gym and brain-based learning, acute care, teletherapy, torticollis, Therapeutic Listening, digital addiction (Level 1 certified), neurochemistry, trauma, emotional regulation, neurotransmitters, executive functioning, and adaptive equipment evaluations.
In the area of fitness, I have been an ACE-certified group fitness instructor since 1999 and have specialized in yoga since 2001. I am also ACE-certified as a fitness nutrition specialist and functional movement specialist.
